Here’s one for the thrill seekers out there who want to test out the validity of their travel insurance – it’s the world’s highest bungy swing!
It’s at Oribi Gorge in the Kwazulu Natal region in South Africa, near the city of Durban. Here is a stupid photo of yours truly in mid air trying to contain himself!
This insane jump involves a 70 metre freefall into a rocky gorge. There’s nothing like watching a large hard valley rush up towards your face after leaping off a perfectly stable platform. I did this jump a few years ago and it’s probably one of the craziest things I’ve done on my travels, but one of the best things I’ve experienced from a pure adrenalin perspective.
I’ve done skydiving, and believe me, this is way more scary because you have the perception of the bottom racing towards your retinas. With sky diving, that just feels like a lot of wind blowing into your face!

Oribi Gorge is a bit out of the way, but it’s worth the trip there based on the hit of happy hormones I experienced immediately after the jump.
It’s a great cure for a hangover!

I almost had a heart attack from the jump – it was terrifying and satisfying at the same time! Definitely worth it!
Hahahaha. I’d only do this if I knew I was going to die in the next few hours. Lovely, though. I love terrifying and satisfying at the same time. OK. Maybe.
