Which is actually like a drypack and backpack all in one device.

But you can sling it over your back, just like a normal backpack because there’s a harness attached to the drypack – which is actually pretty comfortable to wear.

It’s a simple design, but it just works.

It’s like a bit of a hybrid – think of a backpack that’s made of drybag material that is completely waterproof. It’s made of material rated as IP66 – that is, it can float for ages and can handle a quick submersion.

Which is exactly what I’m going to do with my video just so I can show you I’m not making any of this up!

The aim of this product is protect your stuff from all sorts of outside elements like dust, dirt, sand and water. I wanted to test out the claim that this bag floats! So I decided to risk some of my stuff and loaded it up to see if it was a) waterproof and b) able to stay above water!

But you do have to follow the simple steps to make it airtight – that is, roll down the top lip, clip it together and then place the strap onto the velcro. It’s not rocket science!

Let’s see if I can sink it? Click to find out more!

There you go! I couldn’t sink the Overboard 20L Backpack and all of my stuff inside it was completely dry!

So if you’re after a backpack that will protect your stuff from water and other natural elements, for example, high value electronics like your laptop or digital SLR camera from being made into an expensive recycling item, this is something to consider.

Especially if you are travelling in wet areas (like for example, Iguazu Falls or England – ironically, where this waterproof backpack was designed) or you like getting out on the water a lot.

I also brought this bag in my canoe recently too. It fit in pretty snug and was drenched with loads of water, and yes, everything within it was still dry at the end of the canoe trip.

I do like this waterproof backpack – if I’m going to places where I know it’s going to be wet, I’m going to substitute my current day pack with this instead.
