Segway Tours and Rides – Ride One!
A Segway is a 2 wheeled form of balancing transport that has become popular recently, and a number of Segway Tours and Rides are popping up all around the world- in fact, in some places, it’s like riding a bike!
It’s a complex beast that is controlled by computers and an electric motor, and you use your balance by leaning forward or backward to make it go faster or slow it down. It takes a little while to learn, but once you pick up it’s nuances, a Segway Ride is a tonne of fun. They are also battery powered, so when it dies, you just plug it into the mains electricity supply for recharging.
It can even turn in it’s own circle! If you really want one, you can even buy a Segway x2 online!
These are pretty safe machines – unless you want to act like an idiot and take one of these things beyond what it was designed for, but hey, people have scored injuries from all sorts of wheeled machines by challenging Darwin’s theory of the Survival of The Fittest!
Anyway, Ben from TimeOutXperiences showed me around Coffs Harbour on one of these beasts, and I put together some dodgey and shakey video footage that would make the Blair Witch Project look like it was shot on a set of rails.
Also, these Segways are an off road version with chunky tyres that haul through dirt tracks.
