Jet Ski Tours and Safaris in Fiji

Posted on 22 April 2010 by anthony

Jet Ski Tours and Safaris are a good excuse to drag yourself away from the resort you’re staying in Fiji, and get out and about to experience the natural beauty of this great Pacific Island nation.

The Uprising Beach Resort at the Pacific Harbour area of Fiji can organise Jet Ski Tours to a number of offshore islands for half a day!

This was my office on Good Friday 2010!  Hard to take!

After leaving the Uprising Beach Resort, the first stop is a Coral Cay for a bit of snorkelling.  I loved the trip out here, because I was Jet Skiing with a flock of birds on the way to the island – and they beat me.  Easy to understand, because I had been stuffed silly full of food all week!

I had this Coral Cay to myself!

You can also go past a popular shark diving site on the way (but not too close!).  The Fijians tell me that the sharks, like the people, are very friendly and are often vegetarian.

Here is some video footage: It’s a bit hard to film and control a Jet Ski at the same time!

Next Stop: the Batiluva Beach Resort, which is a hangout for Surfies who catch a Surf Break about 8 miles out.  You can do more snorkelling here as well, or do sod all and chill out on the beach and have lunch or sip on a cold beer.

Batiluva Resort is run by Sharon, who moved here from Hawaii 9 years ago and she looks after the place with her dog who loves swimming in the ocean.

Here is an interview with my guide Bati from Uprising about the Jet Ski Tours and Safaris:

On the way home, the Jet Ski Tours go past Beqa Island, which was the origin of Fire Walking in Fiji (see the previous post on Fire Walking).

You can find out more at Lonely Planet – Diving and Snorkeling Fiji.

This Jet Ski Tour is only a fraction of what is out there in terms of Fiji’s natural wonders.  I’m itching to see more!

Thanks to the Uprising Beach Resort and Tourism Fiji for organising this great day trip out!
