Japanese Onsen Spa/Hot Tub Funny!
Today I have a funny travel photo from Cara who I met on a cool G Adventures trip to Japan.
It’s of a Funny Warning Sign she spotted at a Japanese Onsen, which is a traditional hot tub or spa!
Love it!
The Japanese Onsen Warning Sign Reason
Actually, there’s a good reason for this sign – a Japanese Onsen can be so hot, that it can sometimes cause its participants to pass out. Hence, if you go for a hot tub when really drunk, you’ll probably pass out and drown – maybe that’s the reason they used the term ‘Dead Drunk’ in this sign!
Maybe this is very useful Engrish!

Dead drunk? Very specific, so it’s ok to take a bath if you’re blind drunk?

You’re right! Who said anything about being blind drunk, rat arsed, or flogged when it comes to taking a bath in a Japanese Onsen?

Well, probably. But I think this sign was put up because there have been ‘dead drunk’ people in the onsens!
