Hot Chili Peppers – Not The Band!
As mentioned in my previous post about the Unusual Curry that is Bunny Chow, Durban has a big Indian population, which means there is a huge range of spices available to make some great curries – including some Hot Chili Peppers.
However, I won’t be using a Curry Power made by Buddy, who works at the Madari and Sons shop located at the Victoria markets in Durban.
Here it is pictured below – ground up Hot Chili Peppers that would make the World’s Hottest Curry!
He calls his hottest Curry Powder the ‘Mother In Law’ – because you want to use this stuff to keep her away. However, these Hot Chili Peppers would keep anyone away, including anyone who had burnt their taste buds after longterm curry abuse.
This stuff is made up from ground up Bird’s Eye Chilis – which are one of the hottest in the planet. I only placed a speck of this rocket fuel onto my finger, and it made me sweat once I placed it on the end of my tongue. In fact, I started to sweat and thought there was no way I could eat something this hot.
After these Hot Chili Peppers had stripped my tongue bare, I managed to interview Buddy with this story about the powder.
