Hobart Tasmania – Pimping A Mazda MX5!

Hobart Tasmania – has Nice Beer, Chocolate and Great Windy Roads!

Today was a major pimping the Mazda MX5 day.

Myself and a friend from GTStyle.com took a tonne of photos and video footage to be used in an upcoming feature of driving around in this car, which we’re having a lot of fun doing – and haven’t written off…yet…

Here’s the evidence of that!

Mazda Mx5 Australia

Once again, say hi to Mazda and Mazda Motorsport on TwitterFacebook and Youtube.

Today, we took a break from checking out the Targa Tasmania. This is what officially happened yesterday (see my article on Car Racing).

But if you’re not interested in Motor Sport, here are some of the things you can do around Hobart, Tasmania if you like cruising around:

Visit The Cascade Brewery

The Cascade Brewery is Australia’s oldest – and in my opinion, makes some of Australia’s best beer (if you like beer, check out my Beer Index).

I could have spent all day at the brewery. Unfortunately, you can’t have too many beers otherwise the constabulary might want to throw you in prison if you hop into a car after a few too many!

In this beautiful picture of the bar below, if you’re wondering what the furry thing in the background is, it’s not the result of a tiger that’s mated with a dog – it’s a ‘Tasmania Tiger’, or thylacine – it’s the mascot of Cascade, and unfortunately, it’s extinct and has been for decades.

Even if you don’t like beer, it’s nice to chill out in the immaculate gardens there.

Eat a tonne of Chocolate

There is a Cadbury Chocolate factory located in Hobart. I’ve been there before, and it’s a great place to pump up your obesity levels because there are numerous samples available that are usually digested before leaving.

Unfortunately, beer and chocolate doesn’t really mix – and stomaching this concoction would have been a tad challenging with regards to the next thing to do…

Drive Around Mount Wellington and the Huon Valley

Hobart’s a pretty city. This is the view from the road coming back from the Huon Valley:

Not bad! But great views of Hobart exist at nearby Mount Wellington, which cut an imposing view over the city. But the drive up Mount Wellington is the best part:

This is what a strap up Mount Wellington looks like in the Mazda MX5 with the top down:

The drive up Mount Wellington is an awesome drive, with lots of corners to test out your driving ability, and your car! Especially if it rains.

Even John from GT Style mentioned he hadn’t enjoyed a drive like this in a long time – and he’s a full on petrol head who’s driven super cars!

I think he’s a Top Gear Tragic!

Anyway, tonight is our last night in Hobart, Tasmania – tomorrow we’re going to try and check out the final stages of the Targa Tasmania. It’s forecast to rain most of this weekend, so there might be a few more crashes!
